In the hopes of maintaining transparency and clear instruction with members concerning training during the pandemic, we will be taking a register at the beginning of each class in order to comply with track and trace requirements. Warwick Aikido sessions will also be operating under a tier system as outlined below.
CURRENT TIER: TIER 2 + Lateral Flow Testing
Last Updated: 6th January 2022
OMICRON Variant: Due to data indicating the high contagiousness of the variant, for the foreseeable future anyone wishing to train at the university will be required to show proof of a negative lateral flow test before each training session.
TIER 1- No COVID-19 restrictions, full body-art training regime. No social distancing and masks are optional. No limit on persons per session.
TIER 2- Paired body art- members will be assigned at the beginning of class to a specific partner to work with for the entire session (and where possible, maintain these pairs for future sessions). Pairs will be required to socially distance from other pairs but not from each other. Masks are required.
TIER 3- No body art training. Weapons/solo training only. All members will be required to socially distance and masks will be optional. 15 person limit per session.
TIER 4- No body art training. Weapons/solo training only. All members will be required to socially distance and masks will be mandatory. 15 person limit per session.
Irrespective of restrictions to training, we encourage all of our members to be safe and sensible on and off the tatami. In the instance of attending events such as festivals, clubs or similar high-risk of transmission events, we kindly request that members take a COVID-19 test within 7 days of attending said event. This will help to identify cases faster and works to protect other students and instructors by quickly identifying and isolating cases. Lateral flow tests can be accessed freely on the university's campus. For more information on booking tests please visit the university's website: https://warwick.ac.uk/coronavirus/status/.
