The mental aspect of Aikido is key to the art’s core value–the harmony of the ways, meaning being able to both physically and mentally at peace with the world.

In addition to training the body, Aikido practices also place emphasis on the ability to clear and relax one’s mind. O sensei has once noted that one ‘must be willing to receive 99% of an opponent’s attack and stare death in the face’ in order to execute techniques with absolute determination.
