Beginner's Seminar 2024/25
Another year, another beginner's seminar welcoming our newest members of Warwick Aikido. Held in the University of Warwick's multipurpose room, our beginners and seniors engaged in a fulfilling day of training on the mats! This year, we were happily joined by 5 new club members.
The seminar featured four classes. The first class was led by Tim Sullivan Sensei, the current Chief Instructor of Warwick Aikido, and the following were led by Chris Mooney Sensei, our Technical Director. The classes covered key Aikido fundamentals: from developing effective ukemi to fine-tuning footwork and basic strikes. Of the techniques covered during the seminar, the heavy focus on the various iterations of ikkyo allowed beginners to explore one of the first techniques taught in the regular training sessions.
Overall, the seminar provided an insightful learning experience for both the seniors and beginners who attended.
We sincerely appreciate our returning visitors who travelled to attend this year's beginner's seminar, especially Chris Mooney Sensei. The opportunity to train with more experienced members is fundamental to our club's learning development.
